Episode 57: Scud Serve

The match between the two schools in Doubles 2 continues. It seems that Gakuto's the swift type of player that finishes his opponent in no time that he's having such a hard time now that the match is drawn out and longer than usual. He's somewhat kind of Kikumaru before. It's known that Kikumaru's also has stamina problems of his own. One good quality of Mukahi is that he doesn't know to give-up so he tried his hardest still. As he jumped to do an acrobatic play, he's somewhat surprised to see that Kikumaru still could jump and be more energetic than him. As Atobe looked on to the match, he doesn't get worried since he's got enormous trust on Oshitari Yuushi. He knows that a prodigy and a troublesome guy like Yuushi would take matters on his own hands and try to make a change of pace. He knows that Yuushi wouldn't let Seigaku win that easily. How right Atobe is, because at that moment, Yuushi began attacking Seigaku on his own. Yuushi knew that Gakuto wouldn't be of any help since Gakuto's already wobbly on his feet due to tiredness. Anyway, as Yuushi attacks, it seems that there's an unspoken trust between Momoshiro and Eiji since Eiji just let Momoshiro deal with Yuushi on his own. Yuushi let out a series of attacks but they were all in vain, they were all returned by Momoshiro. Since Gakuto's somewhat useless already, Seigaku won another set, making it 5-4 in favor of Seigaku. Yuushi kept attacking still, he hasn't lose hope yet. Suddenly after Yuushi returned Momoshiro's shot, Momoshiro positioned for a Jack Knife which he hit towards Yuushi. Yuushi hit it heavily towards Momoshiro who returned it single-handedly. This rally went on and on until Momoshiro and Kikumaru reached a match point. Finally! It was Momoshiro's service play and before he served the ball, he looked at Kikumaru who looked at him as they passed some hidden message to each other. It seemed that Momoshiro forced Yuushi to lob and Momoshiro feinted to Smash the ball when in reality Kikumaru would be the one smashing it. This got their match-point. Seigaku won to the surprise of everyone.

Momoshiro and Kikumaru walked towards Oishi who told Momoshiro that if he was playing instead of Momo, they would have surely lost. This got Momoshiro smiling, but it was shortlived since Coach Ryuzaki told them that they shouldn't let their guard yet and they've still a long way to go. Meanwhile, on Hyoutei corner, Oshitari is being scolded by Coach Sakaki because of his carelessness while Gakuto's scolded for his poor stamina and that they should work on it, since if they wouldn't, they wouldn't be able to play on the Nationals. So it's unto Doubles 1. Hyoutei's Doubles 1 is Shishido Ryou (who's now short-haired) and Ohtori Choutarou. Shishido was annoyed that the Hyoutei club members were already having doubts about their possibility to win against Seigaku. Shishido turned to their club members and told them that Hyoutei will surely win! This got the attention of every Hyoutei members and they've started that noisy cheering once again. On Seigaku, Doubles 1 is Kaidoh and Inui. The first years were impressed by the aura of the two since it's like they were both untouchable. Anyway, as the set started, it was Ohtori's service play. Shishido smiled since he knows all about Ohtori's incredible serve. As Ohtori served, everyone was surprised by how fast it was (he was also mumbling "Ikyuu Nyuu Kon" as he serves which means "One shot to your soul". Inui wasn't able to follow the ball's movements. Both he and Kaidoh were shocked by Ohtori's serve which is called the Scud Serve. Shishido's smile became more pronounced because of this, he thinks that they'll easily win this set. Well, Shishido was quite right, because of Ohtori's incredible serve, they've got points one after the other. Even if Ohtori double-faulted during the set, he didn't decreased his speed and that comes to show how confident he was on his serve. So, naturally, it's already 1-0 in favor of Hyoutei in as much as a blink of an eye. So, it's change court and it's Seigaku's turn to serve. Kaidoh's getting really annoyed that he started to sway, as if he's readying himself to use his Boomerang Snake.
