Prince of Tennis or Tennis no Oujisama aired from October 10, 2001 to March 30, 2005 and is owned by Konomi Takeshi. It has 178 episodes, each of them are special on their own way. Prince of Tennis is not only a sport-oriented anime. One might think it's only about Tennis (who wouldn't? the title is a dead give-away) but as the story progresses it's becoming more centered on how strong the bonds of friendship the characters have with each other.

The start of the anime was entirely focused on Ryoma Echizen, a 12 yr old tennis genius who won 4 consecutive Jr. Tennis Championship in America who came back to his homeland, Japan, to continue his studies (and learn more tennis). Also, as a son of former undefeated (but retired early) pro tennis player, Nanjiroh Echizen or also known in the tennis world as Samurai from the Land of Sakura, Ryoma's only goal in life was to beat his father, but that changes as the story progresses...
